Manager, Cloud Platform Engineering

As a manager in Cloud Platform Engineering, you will lead and collaborate with your Development peers, Site Reliability Engineering and Customer Support teams to ensure our product can be deployed, upgraded and monitored at scale.  You will solicit feedback from your partners and iterate to deliver better solutions with industry best practices in mind.  You will collaborate with the other teams to ensure development teams can deliver rapidly in a self-serve way. 

Job Location: (Ottawa, Ontario, CA - Hybrid; Other Canadian Locations - Remote)

Your Responsibilities will include

• Ownership of many of the key technologies in the software stack related to CI / CD
• Drive for automation and self-serve for many R&D operational imperatives
• Be the organizational champion for the support, operations and customer IT personas
• Partner with our SRE team to ensure they can operate our cloud environments, and seamlessly deploy, monitor and support our customer environments.

• Help to consolidate on a common set of configuration management tools and provide patterns for development teams to deploy and be self-sufficient
• Attract and develop talent
• Demonstrate initiative, assess priorities, see projects through to completion and meet deadlines and communicate when delays occur
• Work in an agile form to prioritize, commit and deliver business value
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Detail-oriented with an analytical focus at problem solving
• Planning and delivery using agile methodology and tools

Qualifications

• BSc Computer Science or equivalent
• Minimum 3 years in an R&D management role
• Minimum 3 years of experience in software delivery to public cloud

• Experience with Azure, GCP and / or AWS
• Dynamic leader with excellent communication skills, adaptability, initiative, and collaborative spirit

• Experience in Agile software development methodology

• Experience with Kubernetes, Orchestration, Infrastructure-as-Code

• Experience of SaaS/Cloud application deployment models
• Experience with large-scale, distributed web architectures
• Experience delivering software compliance solution (eg. SOC, HIPAA)
