The Role:
In this critical role, the Business Development Manager will have responsibility for evaluating growth opportunities for Life Edit. Life Edit is a dynamic, high-growth, and intellectually challenging workplace with many projects that span Corporate Strategy, R&D strategy, financings, BD deals, and competitive analyses. The successful candidate will be a scientifically and intellectually curious self-starter who can tackle complex tasks by breaking them down into solvable parts. Must be deeply passionate about and driven by the goal of helping patients. This individual will be a key member of Life Edit’s Business Development group and will work closely with the executive team on key strategic exercises.
Here’s What You’ll Do:
- Work as an integral part of the business development team to strengthen Life Edit’s position in the gene editing space
- Support corporate licensing and partnering efforts
- Coordination of due diligence activities
- Financial analysis
- Identify, source, and evaluate potential licensing partners
- Work with Business Development and R&D team to craft external partnering presentations
- Opportunity to learn how to properly read a variety of business and R&D agreements, and real time negotiation practice
- Create financial models, establish template models and assumptions built from industry benchmarks that are sensitive to the specific dynamics of Life Edit’s business
- Lead the monitoring of current landscape and competitive positioning for Life Edit
- Support strategy projects across the ElevateBio ecosystem
- Think creatively about ElevateBio’s business strategy, identify and foster new ideas and help make them a reality
Requirements:
- Undergraduate Science or Engineering degree preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in investment banking or management consulting within the life sciences sector; additionally, will consider individuals with previous business development or corporate strategy experience within the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry.
- Demonstrated ability to build rapport with senior leaders, and R&D, legal and finance teams; outstanding collaboration skills with colleagues is essential for success in this job.
- Strong analytical skills required to provide sound inputs into financial evaluations.
- Understanding of the drug discovery and development process.
- Strong communication and leadership skills necessary to effectively lead diligence teams and navigate the Life Edit corporate structure, i.e., possessing organizational savviness.
- Ability to build stories in presentations and to present them clearly.
- Strong organizational skills.
