Job Summary:
As a Mammography Technologist with Grand Island Clinic, you will be responsible for performing high-quality screening and diagnostic mammography procedures in accordance with physician orders, best practices, and regulatory standards. This role requires a strong commitment to patient safety, comfort, and education, while ensuring compliance with the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA).
This position involves direct patient interaction, technical expertise, and collaboration with healthcare professionals to deliver excellent patient care in a supportive and fast-paced clinical environment.
** This position is 4 days per week at 10 hours per day with Fridays off.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Essential Job Functions:
- Perform screening and diagnostic mammograms following physician orders and mammography best practices.
- Ensure compliance with MQSA and all federal, state, and regulatory guidelines.
- Explain mammography procedures to patients, addressing questions and ensuring patient comfort.
- Accurately position patients and equipment to obtain optimal imaging quality.
- Review images for positioning, exposure, and clarity; repeat as necessary to ensure diagnostic accuracy.
- Maintain accurate patient records, documentation, and quality assurance logs.
- Assist in coordinating mammography appointments, screenings, and follow-up exams.
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly quality control testing to maintain equipment standards.
- Ensure mammography equipment functions properly and report malfunctions promptly.
- Communicate findings or concerns with radiologists or referring providers as needed.
- Educate patients on breast health and the importance of routine mammograms.
- Additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proficiency in operating mammography imaging equipment.
- Strong understanding of breast anatomy, radiographic positioning, and pathology.
- Knowledge of MQSA standards, ALARA principles, and radiation safety practices.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with patients and healthcare team members.
- Ability to work independently and make sound clinical judgments.
- Strong attention to detail and adherence to protocols.
- Basic proficiency with computer systems and electronic health record (EHR) software.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Associate’s degree or certificate from an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
- ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification required.
- ARRT Mammography certification, or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire, required.
- Minimum of one (1) year of mammography experience preferred; recent graduates with certification will be considered.
- CPR/BLS certification preferred.
Physical Demands:
- Prolonged standing, walking, and assisting patients with positioning.
- Ability to lift and move patients as necessary (up to 50 pounds).
- Manual dexterity to operate mammography equipment and computer systems.
- Exposure to radiation and infectious diseases (precautions required).
