Summary

The Mammography Technologist performs all procedures associated with Breast Imaging, following all requirements set forth by the ACR (American College of Radiology), Federal (FDA) and State Radiation Protection guidelines of the MQSA (Mammography Quality Standards Act). Completes all documentation in a timely manner.Preferred minimum two years’ experience as a Mammography Technologist in both screening and diagnostic setting. ARRT (Radiography) and ARRT (Mammography) registered or ARRT (Radiography) registered with Mammography registry eligible. MQSA initial requirements met with valid documentation. Registry eligible individuals must successfully pass the ARRT Mammography registry within one year of employment. Failure to do so will result in termination of employment. Maintains current AHA CPR certification through Cape Fear Valley Training and Development department only. Demonstrates technical skills and expertise. Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills. Verbal and written skills required. Demonstrates good patient care, communication and teaching skills. Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development and understands the range of treatment needed for patients of all age groups. Demonstrates the desire to be actively involved as a representative from Radiology to the Breast Center Collaborative Group and participates in various community health projects related to Breast Care.Must be able to communicate orally. Must have manual dexterity, visual and auditory acuity. Must have mobility to assume awkward positions. Must have mobility to respond to emergency situations. Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time. Must be able to bend and lift. Position may involve skin, eye mucous membrane, or parental contact with blood or other potentially infectious material.
