AECOM’s Water Infrastructure business is growing, and we’re looking for an experienced Major Projects Director to play a key role in shaping our future across Victoria.

This is an opportunity for an established Water Infrastructure leader who enjoys working at the intersection of major projects, clients, people and growth. You’ll bring your understanding of the Victorian water market, build trusted relationships with key clients and help connect some of Australia’s leading technical specialists to solve complex infrastructure challenges.

You’ll be joining a global Water business with the scale, expertise and multidisciplinary capability to work across the full project lifecycle – from planning and approvals through to design, delivery and operations. With major investment continuing across Australia and significant opportunities emerging across water infrastructure, there’s real scope to make an impact.

Job Description

How you’ll make a difference

As Major Projects Director, you’ll be a highly influential leader within our Water Infrastructure team, helping drive collaboration, client engagement and growth across our Victorian portfolio.

You’ll work closely with our Water leadership, project teams and technical specialists across AECOM to identify opportunities, develop solutions and position the business for major programs of work.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Building and maintaining trusted relationships with key Victorian Water clients
  • Understanding client priorities, challenges and future investment plans
  • Identifying and developing opportunities across major Water Infrastructure programs
  • Connecting multidisciplinary teams to develop integrated solutions for clients
  • Supporting account planning and strategic business development activities
  • Leading and contributing to major pursuits, proposals and opportunity development
  • Working with project and operational teams to ensure quality client outcomes
  • Building strong relationships across AECOM’s Australian and global technical network
  • Keeping across market, client and competitor trends to identify future opportunities
  • Helping shape the continued growth and capability of AECOM’s Water Infrastructure business

The qualities that help you thrive

You’ll ideally bring:

  • Proven experience (ideally 15+ years’) delivering multidisciplinary Water Infrastructure projects
  • A strong network and deep understanding of the Victorian water market
  • Experience working with major Water clients and complex project frameworks
  • The ability to connect technical specialists and multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong commercial and business development capability
  • A consultative approach, with the ability to understand client needs and provide trusted advice
  • Broad understanding across areas such as planning, approvals, flooding, drainage and infrastructure
  • Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills
