PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

Maintains and repairs heavy-line fixed and mobile equipment for the railroad tie plant so that equipment breakage and downtime is minimized.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Uses welding and cutting tools to maintain and repair equipment and enable safe operation
• Inspects and replaces equipment parts such as engines, tires, hydraulic cylinders, etc
• Services engines and exchanges fluids in equipment as needed
• Follows safety procedures to ensure safe working conditions for themselves, plant workers, and equipment operators
• Assumes duties of Maintenance Supervisor when necessary

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
• Must possess a valid driver’s license
• Working knowledge of rail, other track material (OTM), switches, and bridge material to sort, stack, house and handle appropriately
• Basic computer skills
• Working knowledge of warehouse and/or heavy construction equipment
• Knowledge of safe work environment applications
• This position has a regular full-time schedule with a normal work week of Monday through Friday. There may be a need for occasional work after hours or weekends.
• This position may require minimal travel up to 10% of the time.
