Maintenance Technician

Position Summary: 

Responsible for assisting Facilities Manager with maintenance of all buildings, equipment, and land owned and/or operated by Encompass, assuring that they are properly maintained to provide a safe, clean and orderly environment for staff, children and families. This individual will perform general maintenance tasks at all of Encompass’s 8 centers.

Essential Functions: 

1. Carry out maintenance requests as scheduled or directed by the Facilities Manager

2. Perform routine maintenance and repairs at all Encompass locations

3. Be proactive by inspecting buildings, equipment and systems to identify any issues

4. Ensure lawn maintenance and snow removal meet agency needs

5. Assist with maintenance of Encompass owned vehicles and outdoor playground equipment

6. Assume Facilities Manager’s functions in his absence

7. Work cooperatively with support departments regarding facility and maintenance issues

8. Complete accurately and on time all required reports and/or necessary office recordkeeping

9. Exhibit agency values in daily work and demonstrate commitment to the agency mission

10. Perform other related duties as requested

11. Support the Encompass mission, demonstrating professionalism and confidentiality in all encounters with staff, children, and their families

Requirements

Physical Requirements: 

The demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

· Moderate noise level in work environment and often required to stand, bend, and lift 50 pounds

· Required to talk, hear and the ability for close vision

· Regularly required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb/balance, stoop, kneel or crouch

· Ability to work inside and outside regardless of weather conditions.

Education | Experience: 

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1-2 years of related experience in facilities maintenance preferred including landscaping, painting, carpentry and basic appliance and equipment maintenance
• Advanced knowledge of general maintenance procedures and techniques
• Demonstrated communication and organizational skills
• Valid driver’s license
