Role Summary

This position performs routine plumbing, electrical, carpentry and HVAC maintenance in a research environment. Inspects, maintains, and repairs specialized equipment and facilities to ensure property meets established standards.

Examples of Work Performed

  • Inspect and perform routine preventative maintenance on machines equipment and parts

  • Inspect assigned buildings for maintenance repairs

  • Use work order management system to receive assigned work orders and document work completed

  • Respond to emergency calls

  • Replace or repair plumbing fixtures or pipes

  • Repair secondary electrical circuits, electrical appliances, motors, switches, outlets Inspect and repair or replace light fixtures, ceiling tiles, windows, doors, flooring

  • Perform routine carpentry work

  • Check and reset HVAC equipment and boilers

  • Participate in after hours on-call schedule

Essential Functions

These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following.  Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.

1. Utilizes specialized equipment to repair and maintain complex machinery, equipment and facility property to prevent further damage and ensure optimal operation.
2. Performs routine and non-routine facility inspections.
3. Troubleshoots, escalates and documents issues according to established policies and procedures.
4. Researches and orders repair parts through the Facilities Management storeroom process.
5. Repairs if possible and makes referrals to trade shops as necessary.

Minimum Education/Experience

Education: High School or Equivalent

Experience: (2) Two Years Experience

Licensure: Incumbent must have a valid driver’s license.

Substitution Statement: An equivalent combination of related experience and education may be considered for this role. Substitutions of the required experience or education will be assessed on a 1:1 substitution basis.
