Summary
The Maintenance Specialist - Electrical performs skilled electrical duties necessary to construct, repair, and maintain various assets, structures, amenities, and equipment throughout Park District facilities and parks. This role ensures electrical systems operate safely and efficiently while supporting the Park Districts overall maintenance needs.
Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent, associate’s degree or trade school certificate, in electrical systems or related field preferred.

Minimum five (5) years of experience in electrical work.

Current electrician's license or identification card to meet governmental regulations preferred.

Demonstrated expertise in electrical work, pump/motor maintenance, VFD maintenance and lighting.

Experience installing CAT 5/6 wiring preferred.

Ability to interpret and follow technical instructions, diagrams, blueprints, and safety guidelines.

Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills

Demonstrated knowledge of building maintenance and construction

Proficiency in operating and maintaining vehicles, power equipment, and hand tools.

Excellent organizational, communication, and project management skills.

Valid Illinois Class C Driver’s License with clean driving record.

Ability to operate an aerial truck up to 60 feet in the air. Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications after hire
Supervision
The Maintenance Specialist - Electrical reports to the Maintenance Supervisor. The Maintenance Specialist - Electrical may supervise seasonal and part-time staff.

Essentials Functions
-
Follow all Champaign Park District safety policies and perform all work in a manner that ensures the safety of oneself, the public, and fellow employees.

Demonstrate a high level of professionalism and discretion in all interactions, including maintaining strict confidentiality regarding staff information, communications from supervisors, and conversations with parents or patrons. Always Uphold the Park District’s policies and standards for data privacy and confidentiality.

Perform skilled electrical work to construct, repair, and maintain Park District facilities and equipment.

Operate and maintain all tools, equipment, and vehicles in a safely and efficiently.
-
Monitor and maintain pumps, motors, VFD’s, lighting systems.
-
Install and repair electrical wiring, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures using appropriate tools and equipment.
-
Inspect electrical systems identify hazards, defects, and code compliance issues; making necessary adjustments or repairs.
-
Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
-
Use electrical testing tools such as oscilloscopes, amp meter, ohmmeters, and voltmeters.

Plan daily workload and ensure availability of supplies and tools.

Act as Foreman (Team Leader) on assigned projects, directing seasonal or part-time staff.

Inspect facilities, equipment, and vehicles reporting issues to the Maintenance Supervisor.

Provide professional, positive interaction with the public and colleagues

Perform physically demanding tasks, including:
