POSITION OVERVIEW
JOB SUMMARY:
Performs all maintenance duties and responsibilities relating to maintaining the property and grounds for the UWF Historic Trust in Downtown Pensacola and Arcadia Mill site in Milton.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of an approved apprenticeship program for multiple trades; or a high school diploma and four years of appropriate experience. Appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in one of the following areas: building industry, property maintenance, fabrication, or repair technician.
Knowledge of the procedures, methods, and operation of mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and fire systems, along with general construction experience. Proficiency with using hand and power tools safely. Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate multiple work assignments and complete tasks with little to no supervision. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety regulations, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence as appropriate for the needs of the audience. Focused on attention to detail, pride in workmanship, and a having a strong personal initiative. Ability to communicate effectively to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Consideration will be given for experience in building preservation, restoration, or rehabilitation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES:
- 60% - Routinely surveys the Historic Trust sites to identify maintenance issues, primarily for interior building needs, but exterior and grounds maintenance as needed. This survey includes all interior systems are working properly (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, alarms, and fire systems) along with ensuring the spaces are presentable and safe to the public by evaluating walls, floors, ceilings, lighting, doors, windows, and exhibit displays. The individual will diagnose the situation, formulate a repair plan, and make necessary repairs following the proper technical procedures, preservation methods, and building code requirements. If an issue is found that requires a licensed contractor, they will contact and coordinate with the contractor to make the repairs. - (Essential)
- 20% - Using technical skills and knowledge, the individual will undertake and complete interior maintenance tasks that are both building and museum exhibit related. This will include, but is not limited to wall repairs, painting, trim work, replacing light bulbs, exhibit build/removal, and deep cleaning of rooms and floors. This position will work closely with other departments to complete projects. Work will be done alone or as part of a team, under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor. - (Essential)
- 10% - Using technical skills and building knowledge, the individual will undertake and complete small to medium building projects, such as walls, fences, decks, stairs, furniture, and exhibits ensuring they are built correctly and safely. This will be done alone or as part of a maintenance team/staff project, under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor. - (Essential)
- 5% - Routinely check workshop tools and other maintenance devices to ensure they are working properly. If an issue is found, they will diagnose and make necessary repairs. - (Essential)
