Position Summary
- Main responsibility is to create maintenance schedule based on maintenance work orders in SAP.
- Manage planned maintenance work backlog and schedule work to be done, working with both Maintenance and Production to keep backlog managed.
- This position will also develop maintenance job plans and prepare them for scheduling and execution. This includes regular maintenance jobs, preventative and predictive jobs, and shut-down support. Separation of maintenance activities to be planned, verification of activities in the field, allocation of technicians, time, materials, spare parts and external resources (crane, forklift, etc.) for services.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
The main responsibilities if this position if to prepare the Maintenance Schedule, including the following Scheduling Duties:
- Have a working knowledge of maintenance tasks and operations/equipment for the area being scheduled.
- Understand the scheduling process, able to prepare lists of planned backlog jobs by trade, and prioritize them, building a weekly and daily schedule leveling workload to meet available capacity.
- Able to run a meeting, record schedule completion, and track schedule compliance.
- Work closely with Operations and Maintenance Supervisors to understand job priorities.
- Develop job schedules in conjunction with Operations and other customers.
- Attempt to minimize schedule disruptions and facilitate longer term scheduling horizons.
- Arrange and run the Daily and Weekly Maintenance Scheduling Meeting.
- Communicate job schedules and ensure that all affected parties are notified.
- Manage schedules using scheduling software – SAP, and non-SAP (e.g. Microsoft Project, Excel)
This position will also work as a Maintenance Planner, including the following Planning Duties:
- Review notifications with operations to ensure understanding of job request scope.
- Validate job as maintenance function
- Revise priority as required
- Inspect equipment as needed to develop work scope
- Review open notifications and orders for duplications and combine as appropriate
- Check notifications for applicability of MOC and ESH requirements
- Plan work orders by:
- Entering stores reservations for parts as required and create the job kitting
- Obtain vendor quotes, enter requisitions for outside parts and services required
- Developing a task list for work to be preformed
- Develops tool list for repeat jobs
- Develop job package and standard job plans for frequent activities
- Identifying permits required for the job
- Gather required drawings etc as needed
- Estimating internal man-hours and total cost for job
- Reviews job plan with customer when required for items of high cost, long downtime, etc.
- Verifies externally purchased parts are available (prior to adding job to planned backlog)
- Adds planned job to scheduling backlog when planning complete
- Build and modify BOM’s (Bill of Material) as needed to accomplish planning task.
- Initiates and supplies vendor information for new stores stock items as needed to accomplish planning task.
- Assist similar task for shutdown jobs.
- Support the process to calculate and manage weekly/monthly Planning & Scheduling KPI´s
Required Skills
Required Experience/Skills
- High School Diploma or GED
- Industrial maintenance technician experience, minimum (3) years, is required
- Scheduling experience in SAP or any other MMS system
- Planning experience in SAP or other MMS System
- Industrial maintenance and planning & scheduling experience are mandatory. Training will be given for the other required skills if needed.
- Demonstrate knowledge of operations/equipment in the maintenance area; possess strong Maintenance skills.
- Must possess a desire to do both planning and scheduling duties. Must be able to estimate work efforts.
