POSITION POSTED UNTIL A VIABLE POOL OF CANDIDATES HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

High school graduate or equivalent plus two years of specialized formal training or completion of a formal apprenticeship in heavy vehicle mechanical or electrical systems repair. Four years experience in the repair and maintenance of diesel/CNG powered buses, heavy vehicles, and/or electronic systems. Must possess good analytical, oral and written communication and organizational skills. Experience in the operation of personal computers in a spreadsheet, word processing, and database environment required. Experience using a computerized maintenance management information system (MMIS) is desired. In lieu of specialized formal training directly related electronic repair experience can substitute on a year-for-year basis. 

INTERVIEW SELECTION PROCESS: The selection process may include one or more components to demonstrate applicants’ knowledge, skills and abilities in job related areas. These may include exercises such as practical demonstrations, written communications, oral interviews and/or competency assessments. Candidates may train with supervisor to develop and sharpen need skills.                                                                                                                    

SUMMARY  

Uses standardized methods for planning maintenance activities for journeyman level employees who inspect, maintain and repair the MARTA bus fleet, paratransit vehicles, and utility fleet systems, both electrical and mechanical. As part of a controlled maintenance environment, produces preventive maintenance work orders (PM). Uses a computerized maintenance database to compile and analyze all maintenance work orders, labor cost, equipment replacement, fuel usage, and other maintenance related data. Generates several reports that outline the effectiveness of the controlled maintenance environment for review by upper management. Performs work that affects business operations to a substantial degree.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

1. Schedules all preventive and predictive maintenance work in accordance to established policy.  
2. Tracks work orders and maintenance projects to completion.  
3. Uses a computerized maintenance database to compile and analyze all maintenance work orders, labor costs, equipment replacement, fuel usage, and other maintenance related data.  
4. Reserves all stores material required for planned work.  
5. Generates several reports that outline the effectiveness of the controlled maintenance environment for review by upper management.  
6. Performs other related duties as assigned, including Transit Ambassador assignments.
