Pratt & Whitney, Middletown, CT has an opening for a Maintenance Mechanic second shift.  The employees selected for this position will have the following responsibilities: 

What you will do:

  • Function: Perform the mechanical work necessary to conduct hoist preventative maintenance and repair. Facilities systems and equipment - including construction with focus on pumping, piping and systems related to pipefitting trade. Perform duties including welding and rigging throughout the plant as assigned.
  • Perform overhead hoist, system maintenance and repair work as assigned and carry out preventive maintenance and service as required.
  • Assist others responsible for complex installation, overhaul and repair projects in preparing materials and operating equipment.
  • Under direction of Leader/Supervisor follow specific instructions and standard trade practices to obtain tools, material and equipment for carrying out work assignments on piping systems, control devices and related equipment.  
  • Assist other trades working on joint projects where common skill crossover provides the opportunity for shared responsibilities and more effective us of available skills.
  • Refer difficulties to leader/supervisor.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • High School or GED.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract. 
  • May be required to train for, obtain and maintain licenses for hoist maintenance and certifications within assigned trade specialization. Applicant shall have a State of Connecticut (R-9) or (R-10) license or other related hoist maintenance experience.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Plumbing experience.
