What this job involves: The Maintenance Mechanic must be able to perform the repair, maintenance, and replacement of various mechanical systems vital to keeping production moving throughout this facility. Maintain and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Maintain and repair plumbing components including toilets, urinals, lavatories, flush valves, water fountains, sinks, drains, water heaters, piping, and sump pumps. Perform repairs to mechanical HVAC systems which may include but are not limited to: fans and motors, cleaning of coils and replacement of filters and belts/couplings, pumps, bearings, drains, maintenance of air handlers and cooling towers. Perform repairs to various components involved with plant steam (traps, valves, condensate units, etc.). Must be able to monitor and maintain leak detection system provided by The Detection Group. Perform maintenance tasks and minor repairs on vehicles that are on site (work trucks, forklifts, scissor lifts, single man lifts, etc.). Perform maintenance and minor repairs on dock levelers and garage doors. The position requires adherence to GDP (Good Documentation Practices) standards and participation in an on-call rotation.
What your day-to-day will look like:
- Perform preventative maintenance (PM) tasks as specified in Maximo Job plan and within deadlines provided
- Assist the operations team in the maintenance and repair of building and equipment
- Minor plumbing repairs (pneumatic and hydronic)
- Perform assigned facility inspections and due diligence efforts, reporting on as found conditions impacting satisfactory client occupancy and operations
- Respond effectively to all emergencies
- Comply with all safety procedures, maintaining good housekeeping and safety of work areas. Recognize danger and safety hazards and propose methods to eliminate them
- Maintain compliance to State, County, or City Ordinances, Codes, or Laws
- Comply with all policies for the safe storage, usage and disposal of hazardous materials
- Participate in ongoing technical, safety, and operational process training programs
- Maintains a clean and safe work environment
- Documents work performance and materials procurement as directed
- Other assigned operational tasks as may be typically expected of the Maintenance Mechanic role
- Candidate must be willing to participate in on-call rotation
- Candidate must be willing to conform to GDP standards
- Must be able to utilize CMMS systems and conform to regulations regarding proper use of this system, which may include Update work order status and provide information accurately and contemporaneously
- Escalating problems or concerns to Manager in timely manner and creating work orders to address any concerns found
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid state driver's license
- Minimum 1 year of applicable experience in general building repair and maintenance, basic plumbing, and basic electrical work
- Ability to lift minimum 50 lbs. and use ladders up to 30 ft.
- Mechanical and electrical aptitude
- Work well in a team environment at times
- Excellent English communication skills (oral and written)
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotation
- Ability to conform to GDP standards
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2 – 3 years of applicable experience in general building repair and maintenance, basic plumbing, and basic electrical work
- Completion of applicable technical training program
- Experience with CMMS systems (preferably Maximo)
- Previous experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology manufacturing environments
- Knowledge of HVAC systems maintenance and repair
- Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Familiarity with leak detection systems
Work Schedule:
- Monday through Friday 7:15am - 4pm.
- Be on call 24 hours a day, working indoors and outdoors with exposure to extreme conditions.
- Working from heights on buildings up to 30 ft. Working in crawl spaces, closets and vaults.
