SUMMARY 

Responsible for the production or services of the department or area, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining machinery and mechanical/electrical equipment such as motors, conveyor systems, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, production machines, boilers, pumps, extractors, fractionators, homogenizers, material handling equipment, bulk delivery equipment, blending/mixing systems. Leads, coaches, and provides effective feedback for Maintenance team. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervises, directs, and coordinates the activities of  maintenance employees engaged in repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment.
  • Schedules repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations; identify problems ensures repairs are completed with minimal downtime.
  • Ensures inventory of spare parts for all department equipment. Ensures spares are accounted for in collaboration with the maintenance coordinator.
  • Develops preventive maintenance programs and policies to ensure safety of all equipment and machinery.
  • Reviews production, quality control, and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities. 
  • Plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of labor and materials.
  • People leadership responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.  
  • May work with outside vendors and contractors in the execution of maintenance work.
  • Ensures work areas are kept in clean and hygienic condition.
  • Implements workplace safety policies and standards.
  • Responsibility/accountability over the unit/department for budgets, schedules and planning.
  • Work is received in the form of objectives based on organizational goals and company policy

Requirements

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma required. Bachelors or Associate degree in mechanical, electrical, or manufacturing engineering disciplines preferred or a combination of education and experience with
  • 5+ years of experience leading a maintenance team in a manufacturing environment.
  • Advanced understanding of production equipment and machines in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, reports, and legal documents. 
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the leadership team. 

Computer Skills: 

The ability to work effectively in a Microsoft Windows environment (Word, Excel, Outlook, and internal software programs).
