Maintenance/Instrumentation Technician
Valparaiso, IN
Day Shift
The Maintenance/Instrumentation Technician is responsible for being highly proficient in the independent assessment, repair, and preventative maintenance work on all equipment within the facility and under minimal supervision.
Responsibilities:
- Capable of the installation, repair, and maintenance of all plant equipment, including new equipment installations and special project work.
- Performs safely and adequately under stress when confronted with hazardous, critical, or urgent situations.
- Able to follow instructions given in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form.
- Interpret complex technical manuals, specifications, schematics, layout drawings and blueprints to complete repairs or installations.
- Communicates with the Maintenance Supervisor/Manager, Engineering Manager, and other personnel, such as the Production Supervisor off-shift and weekends, as required, regarding the status/progress of repairs, estimated time of completion, etc.
- Clearly, accurately and concisely documents all activities, needs and status of repairs in the shift report.
- Completes any and all other duties as required or assigned, such as carpentry, office furniture assembly, landscaping, plumbing, housekeeping, snow removal, etc. and during periods of extenuating circumstances assists production to return the plant to normal operation. This could include packing, dropping presses, etc.
Education & Experience:
- HS Education or Equivalent
- Proficient in Hydraulics
- Pipe Fitting Skills
- Glued & Threaded Pipe Installation and Repairs
- Valve & Actuator Installation and Repairs
- Natural Gas, Ammonia, Hydrogen, and Nitrogen Systems
- Millwright Skills
- Pump / Valve Repairs & Rebuilds
- Durco & Gould's & Galigher Type Pump Rebuilds
- Diaphragm Type Pump Rebuilds
- Gaso Pump Inspections w/basic rebuilds
- Hydraulic, Air & Ammonia
- Diaphragm Type Valve Rebuilds
- Gearbox, Screw Conveyor, Bucket Elevator Repairs
- Haskel/Corkin/Positive Displacement pumps
- Pump / Valve Repairs & Rebuilds
- Welding Skills
- Basic structural welding
- Structural steel
- Electrical Skills
- Voltage up to 480 volts
- High and Low Voltage Fuse Replace
