About the role

Safety-Kleen, in Metairie, LA, is looking for a Maintenance Electrician to join their safety conscious team! This team member will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment with an industrial environment, including troubleshooting/diagnosing PLCs, schematics, electrical problems, performing preventative maintenance and general maintenance as needed, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

  • Ensures Health & Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times;
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment within an industrial setting, including motors, VFDs, transformers, generators, and lighting systems;
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical problems using testing equipment and hand tools as needed;
  • Perform preventative maintenance and general maintenance (as needed) on electrical and mechanical equipment and systems to ensure optimal performance and longevity;
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, diagrams, and blueprints to determine the layout of electrical systems and equipment;
  • Working with 480v, 220v and 110v;
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and electrical codes, and maintain accurate records of work performed;
  • Collaborate with other maintenance personnel to identify and address electrical issues that may impact production or safety;
  • Stay up to date with the latest electrical technologies and techniques to improve efficiency and reduce costs;
  • Ensures that work meets all applicable health and safety;
  • Standard operating procedures;
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean work environment;
  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned;

What does it take to work for Safety-Kleen?

  • High School Diploma, GED, or higher education preferred;
  • 3-5 years experience and/or combination experience and/or education preferred;
  • Experience with 480v, 220v, 110v and three phase;
  • Works safely and familiar with LOTO procedures;
  • PLC and schematics experience through education and/or professional experience;
  • Works well in a team;
  • Communication well with all levels of an organization;
  • Must be able to stand, stoop, climb and lift up to 50 lbs;
  • Ability to work under adverse conditions (heat & cold);
