Job Title: Machining Maintenance Team Leader

Salary: From £57,920.69 up to £64,336.06 (with shift allowance) depending on Experience and Knowledge 

Location: Peterborough

Job Summary

The machining maintenance department is responsible for continually improving the availability of facility production equipment. Significant investment in people and equipment over recent years has led to a motivated and highly engaged team delivering excellent results using modern technology and maintenance techniques.

A vacancy has arisen for a Maintenance Team Leader within the Machining Maintenance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated individual to progress along the maintenance career path structure with the opportunity of progressing into the Section Manager role.

The Team Leader will be expected to have leadership qualities within an established Agility controlled maintenance environment. The Team Leader must have excellent communication, organisation and planning abilities and demonstrate good interpersonal skills.

What You Will Do:

  • Identify and drive efficiency improvements

  • Monitors and improves shop floor safety, aggressively eliminates unsafe processes;

  • Assures fixtures, tooling and processes are followed to meet production schedules;

  • Determines priorities and sequences jobs;

  • Schedules and prioritises constrained resources, and adjusts staffing to meet flow and customer requirements;

  • Determines and executes disciplinary action when appropriate;

  • Ensures preventive maintenance is performed according to schedule;

  • Implements, Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma, Internal Certification and others; and

  • Evaluates, assess, identifies and leads the deployment of workforce training and development

  • Actively deploys section value stream improvements;

  • Practices and teaches CPS Guiding Principles;

  • Initiates and conducts process improvement dialogs with Team Leads and Team Members;

  • Drives root cause corrective action projects and drives continuous improvement;

  • Leads section status reporting and monitors / audits section metrics; and

  • Leads the creation, implementation and training of standard work procedures

  • Complete Workday

  • Conduct 1-2-1 reviews with team

  • Conduct Return To Work Interviews

  • Achieve 5S targets for maintenance crib areas

  • Lead improvement projects

You will be expected to lead a team that demonstrate thorough understanding in the following areas:

• Be able to fault find on electrical, controls, pneumatic, hydraulic & mechanical systems

• Have experience in PLC related machines

• Work to a planned preventative maintenance schedule & ensure completion by others controlled via the Agility system.

• Be the Lead contact with Production & Engineering Department to ensure equipment availability.

Candidates will have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles:

  • NVQ Level 3 / Time served Apprentice background or equivalent qualification

  • Experience of PLC systems, fault finding & diagnostics
