What you will be doing as a Machine Operator – Drop Hammer:
In this role, you can expect to shape and form a variety of aircraft parts using a drop hammer. This method of metal fabrication utilizes a heavy hammer that is dropped onto heated metal to shape it between dies. In this role, you’ll be pivotal in crafting components that meet the highest industry standards. Join us and be a part of a team that takes pride in precision and excellence.
Your responsibilities may include (but are not limited to):
- Operate Drop Hammers: Set up and operate various sizes of drop hammers to form aircraft parts, using judgment to set and bolt dies, select and position pads, and forge parts as specified
- Utilize Hand Tools: Skillfully use lead hammers, solder bars, and other hand tools to perform precise tasks
- Die Maintenance: Clean lead off dies thoroughly and remelt lead for future use, ensuring dies are ready for subsequent operations
- Material Handling: Efficiently use materials or tool moving equipment as required to support production processes
- Material Handling: Use materials or tool moving equipment to transport materials between various locations in the facility
What you need to be successful:
- A high school diploma, an equivalent certificate, or a bronze level WorkKeys certification is required
- A minimum 1-year experience with drop hammer or directly related experience is required
- Ability to be exposed to noise and vibration in a shop environment
