What is the job about? 

 

 

The Machine Operator is responsible to perform complete setup and operations for various types of manual machines and equipment (involving but not limited to saws, broaches, washers, trim lathes, and shaft straighteners). 

 

 

This position reports directly to the 2nd shift Production Supervisor and will operate daily out of the Indianapolis, IN facility (primarily Mon-Fri, 2:30-11:00pm).

The salary range for this position is $45,300-$59,990.  Individual pay will be determined based on market location and the candidate’s profile. The range listed is just one component of Grundfos’s total compensation and benefits package for employees. Total compensation includes paid time off, paid holidays, merit increases, bonuses, and employee stock purchase programs, etc.  Peerless Grundfos salary rates are benchmarked and reflect the target for new hire salaries for the position in Indianapolis, Indiana.

 

 

Your main responsibilities: 

 

• Perform all operations within the capability of the machine(s) being operated;
• Removes metal to desired trim or add/remove weight to achieve specified
• balance.
• Perform secondary operations such as deburring, chip removal, bushing
• installation, drilling, and tapping.
• Mounts, balances, and dresses grinding wheels;
• Calibrate balancer controls.
• Performs manual and electronic record keeping and information retrieval
• functions.
• Perform work, promote teamwork and communicate in conjunction with our
• culture and corporate standards (Safety/Environmental, Quality, Continuous
• Improvement, Communication, Internal Controls, etc.).
• Inspect parts for conformance to prints and specifications.

 

Work Conditions

 

• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds,
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time, frequently grasp tools, bend, stoop, twist, crouch, lift/push/pull, reach, stand, and walk when performing duties for at least 8 hours a day
• Must be able to work overtime when required.
• Non-climate controlled facility.

 

 

Your background

 

 

We imagine that you have:  

 

• High School Diploma, GED/HSE/HiSET or equivalent *required
• Additional machining and technical training *much preferred
• 1+ yrs experience in a manufacturing environment  *much preferred
• Veterans with MOS experience maintaining and repairing precision mechanical systems are strongly encouraged to apply. *much preferred
