Machine Operator - 2nd Shift: CNC, Laser, Plasma, Python, Brake, Shear, Drill & Saw

Contractors Steel powered by UPG, is a growing steel service center that has been in business for almost 60 years!  We are hiring a 2nd Shift Machine Operator for our Van Buren, MI location. An ideal candidate will have worked in the steel industry (not required) and have solid experience with the types of specialized products and services produced by steel service centers.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Operation of a 25-ton crane
• Identify and measure various types of structural material
• Read prints and understand nesting requirements in order to process customer orders
• Working/Operator level knowledge required for Burn Department: Plasma, Oxy Fuel and Laser burning equipment (Messer, Tanaka, Amanda, Python and Peddinghaus)
• Understand operating instructions, machine controls and HMI (Human Machine Interface) for steel processing type of equipment

Position Requirements

• Plasma and/or oxy fuel burning experience
• Experience with measurements
• Basic math skills needed
• Overhead crane experience, large structural material movement/rigging experience
• Completion of criminal background check and drug screen per company guidelines
