SCOPE OF POSITION:

The plant Logistics Supervisor will oversee the logistics and warehousing operations at our Fairport, NY plant. This includes managing shipping, receiving, and storeroom functions while driving improvements in efficiency, cost control, quality, and service. The role also emphasizes staff development, process optimization, systems improvement, adherence to standards, and safety compliance. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with corporate functions to support and govern third-party services, contracts, and rate performance.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Team Leadership: Manage and lead the logistics team to meet both tactical and strategic objectives, with a focus on performance, cost, quality, service, and fostering a positive team culture.
  • Supervision: Provide direct supervisory oversight for logistics associates and materials control coordinators.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive ongoing improvements in logistics processes, warehouse labor productivity, and space utilization.
  • Shipping Accuracy: Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of domestic and international customer shipments, minimizing complaints and quality issues.
  • Compliance: Act as the site lead to ensure compliance with global trade requirements, including reporting as necessary.
  • Problem Resolution: Manage root cause analysis and corrective actions for customer complaints and process defects. Standard Operating Procedures: Develop, implement, and audit standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure team compliance.
  • Performance Metrics: Establish and monitor logistics spend and performance metrics, reporting regularly on progress.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with supply chain, operations, and commercial teams to align logistics requirements with plant and customer needs.
  • Order Management: Oversee the daily prioritization of replenishment orders and stock put-away.  Inventory Control: Own the plant-wide cycle counting processes and coordinate full physical inventory counts as needed.
  • Safety: Ensure safe work practices and procedures are in place and consistently followed. Operational Support: Coordinate logistics support for plant operations, including during shifts and weekends, as required.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor degree in supply chain, logistics, business administration or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in logistics, supply chain management, warehousing or operations
  • Proficiency in logistics and warehouse management systems (WMS) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software.
  • Solid understanding of domestic and international shipping regulations, customs, and trade compliance requirements.
