Logistics Coordinator

Summary: The main goal of a Logistics Coordinator is to collaborate with Appleton Supply's transportation team to ensure prompt shipments and exceeding customer expectations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Schedule customer delivers and returns based on trucking logistics. Maintain constant communication with dedicated carrier to ensure customer needs are meet.
• Check deliveries for accuracy. Research and resolve any discrepancies.
• Input data and maintain accurate record for missed shipments.
• Schedule common carriers and live loads
• Ensure truck drivers time records and ELD are accurate and complete based on DOT standards and QAP policies.
• Qualify new drivers based on DOT and ASC standards.
• Maintain broad knowledge of DOT standards and FMCSA regulations
• Communicate between departments the status of deliveries.
• Schedule maintenance and inspections on trucks and trailers. Communicate with dedicated carrier.
• Track all the proof of deliveries.
• Maintain DOT records.
• Inspect returned materials for damage or defects.
• Maintain accurate shipment dates based on customer needs and finished goods.
• Input data to track department efficiency.
• Ability to maintain regular attendance at Appleton Supply facility.
• Observes safety and security procedures; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly.
• Maintain communications between cross departments.

Education and/or Experience
High school education; or 1 to 3 years of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language/Reasoning Ability/Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, count in simple units of measurement and or whole numbers. Ability to read, write and speak basic English and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to read and write simple lists. Must be able to solve practical problems and deal with interpersonal conflict.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for most of the 8 + hour shift. Must have the ability to use hands to handle, grab, lift, pull or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 5 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds occasionally.

Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving forklifts and pallets. The employee is occasionally exposed to hot or cold conditions. The noise level in the work environment is high and requires the use of hearing protections. We also require steel toed shoes and protective eyewear at all times in the plant.
