Job Title: Logistics Assistant

Department Name: Shipping and Receiving

Reports to (title): Logistics Manager

Job Summary: Logistics assistant provides administrative support to the logistics manager. Help coordinate the daily operations of the warehouse and oversee the sending and receiving of deliveries. Develop and execute fleet safety procedures according to legal guidelines of DOT assuring a safe fleet trucking environment. Responsible for the dispatch area to assure efficient deliveries while monitoring that the drivers are operating under the federal hours of service regulations.

Essential Job Functions:

• Monitors company compliance of DOT regulations by reviewing all DOT inspection reports to minimize violations.
• Maintains company required DOT documentation such as ELD’s, DQ files, Accident register and files. 
• Investigates vehicle accidents to discover causes and makes recommendations to prevent future accidents.
• Represents the company involving any DOT investigations and audits onsite.
• Assisting with inventory
• Resolving customer delivery issues
• Checking orders to ensure accuracy.
• Coordinate freight deliveries with outside contractors.
• Ensuring all vehicles and trailers are within SC-DMV regulations (titles, registration, tags, insurance, property tax)
• Investigate citations issued to drivers while on duty
• Ensure warehouse equipment (forklifts and mini loaders) is serviced properly and as needed. Maintaining their documents as well
• Mailbox runs
• Maintain schedule delivery’s manifest
• Coordinate safety related matters with regional safety manager and Plant Manager. 
• Monitor and review the ELD system
• Run weekly reports for General Manager

Requirements

Qualifications:

• High school diploma/GED
• Strong communication, and teamwork skills
• Valid Qualification in DOT Training including HOS, Drug and Alcohol, Reasonable Suspicion and SST Alcohol training.
