Job Description
- 2nd Shift 4:00PM-12:00AM
- The Line Driver will perform the following job functions;
- Daily inspection as well as operating tow motor safely
- Loading and unloading coils from pins and compactor cutting bands, making tags and other computer functions.
- Recognize/Differentiate between steel grades, heats & sizes
- Identify scale, smut, rust, & other visual defects
- Knowledge of work instructions & customer specifications
- Operate compactor and must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Use scanner & computer system to generate tags
- Must have working knowledge of Non-conforming system
- Follow production schedule put in place by Supervisor & communicate within other areas of the cleaning house
- Empty trash and banding bailer when needed
- Will be responsible for unloading and putting away all incoming material.
- Must use handheld scanner to record incoming coils into Bedford Wire Consignment inventory system.
- Responsible for product movement, material staging, and cleanliness in outside rod storage area.
- Must update weekly inventory coil count and associated location in plant.
- Staging of material as needed for production on a daily basis.
- Coordinate the delivery/pick up of bales of steel and other scrap disposition as needed
- Must have a valid tow motor license & be able to operate heavy machinery (Unloader).
- Able to use/read a micrometer.
- Must be flexible with schedule and available to work overtime and weekends as dictated by changing business demands.
- Must be able to cross train/provide back up for the Shipping department including creating BOL in the computer system, utilization of the Spectro testing equipment, ordering trucks, and loading the material on the truck.
- Awareness of visual non-conformities (coatings, scratches, etc. on steel wire) before product is shipped to the customer.
