What you'll do...

  • Complete Engineering duties
    • Utilize process engineering skills to understand the physics used to create parts and trouble shoot problems.
    • Complete engineering analysis using CAE and free body diagrams to understand the forces applied to parts and systems that are causing things to break or wear out.
    • Calculate stress on parts and systems and the strength of parts and systems.
    • Calculate flow rate of air and fluids to understand problems related to power, cooling and heating systems.
    • Determine simple chemical equations of reactions occurring between materials
    • Analyze the stress strain curve properties for parts that are failing to understand why metals and plastics are causing problems.
    • Create or analyze electrical diagrams to help understand how systems are supposed to help diagnose problems.
    • Complete reliability engineering work with Weibull and other distributions to understand the failure rate to determine if issues are infant mortality or wear out conditions and also predict rate of future failures.
    • Use engineering skills to develop solutions to problems.
  • Learn and apply Strategic Problem Solving to use strategies to determine the physics, chemistry, electricity, etc. causing the failures and drive to resolution.
  • Use 6-Sigma skills including Measurement Systems Analysis, process capability, hypothesis tests, pairwise comparisons, Design of Experiments, Multi-vary analysis, multiple regression, reliability analysis, etc. to complete tests and analyze data.
  • Utilize the 3x5 why process to drive to systemic root cause and systemic improvements.
  • Utilize Ford’s warranty systems and other data bases to identify the biggest issues and use the data to determine contrasts to help drive problem solving process.
