Limited Lab Assistant

Amery Hospital & Clinic is looking for a Limited Lab Technician to join the team. As a Limited Lab Assistant, you will be working in our Rural Health Clinic (RHC) Laboratories at our satellite clinics and must be willing to travel to each site as needed.
Responsible for all functions of the laboratory duties while working that includes performing and evaluating routine laboratory analysis in support of the medical staff. During laboratory downtime, the Limited Lab Assistant will assist in additional duties that are support the clinic team as a whole so must be willing to change job duty responsibilities with little notice. Additional duties include:
- Provides a wide range of laboratory services including specimen collection, laboratory testing, specimen processing and dispatching to appropriate departments.
- Performs Lab quality control and maintenance as required on all lab equipment and evaluates quality control values in accordance with established policy.
- Performs phlebotomy on patients of all ages in accordance with laboratory policy, verifying that correct patient identification is carried out through all stages of sample collection and processing.
- Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock, monitoring for outdates, and placing orders
- Correctly interprets patient and order information to ensure proper entry and avoidance of error.
- Versatility in knowledge, skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
- Demonstrates willingness and flexibility to assist other departments as needs arise or opportunities exist. (e.g. Satellite clinics, UC, Float positions etc.)
- Performs a limited menu of moderate laboratory tests and proficiency testing following all established policies and procedures.
- Maintain appropriate communication with clinical teams as well as laboratory leads and Laboratory Coordinator.
- Position will also serve as a resource for questions from hospital and clinic staff regarding specimen handling and processing.
- Perform laboratory procedures according to established clinic policies in accordance to CLIA regulations.
- This position primarily works independently, must be able to multi-task and set appropriate priorities.
Work Schedule:
- .8 FTE/32 hrs weekly
Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma/equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prefer a minimum of 1 year of Lab Tech, Lab Assistant, CMA, CNA, RMA or LPN experience
- Demonstrates keyboarding skill and computer knowledge.
- Experience in EPIC computer system.
