Position: Lift Operations Assistant Manager
Reports To: Lift Operations Manager
Classification: Year Round
Must be able to work holidays, weekends, days and evenings
Position Overview
Assists the Lift Operations Manager to carry out the responsibilities of the department. Supervises crew of gondola and chairlift employees to ensure both safe and efficient uphill transport and provides great guest service by all crew members.
Functions and Responsibilities
Essential functions and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Uphold and promote Core Values of Silver Mountain: Responsibility, Quality and Value, Golden Rule and Relationships
- Uphold departmental standards for overall lift presentation and organization
- Process payroll when the Manager is unable to.
- Assist in the recruiting, interviewing, hiring and training of staff.
- Competent at both Load and Unload stations, Low Voltage Panel, stops, resets, starts
- Ensure all staff are trained in operational and emergency procedures pertaining to assigned lift
- Demonstrate best practices in workplace safety as outlined by the supervisor, including compliance with all safety guidelines, procedures, and use of personal protective equipment. Identify and report all unsafe behaviors and/or conditions to supervisor.
- Ensure that orderly passenger traffic conditions exist within lift areas
- Communicate current operational information to guests as needed
- Advise and assist guests while promoting a positive guest experience
- Display a professional and courteous manner at all times
- Troubleshoot and assist in resolving guest, staff, and departmental issues
- Assist with crowd control and conflict resolution
- Advise the Manager of any condition or occurrence that may adversely affect the safety of the operation
- Assign and supervise all Attendants on assigned chairlift and provide ongoing coaching to improve work performance
- Coordinate breaks so they are efficient, timely, and in line with the department’s financial goals
- Perform the proper check in and out of all crew, equipment, and paperwork necessary to operate assigned chairlift
- Coordinate staffing adjustments with Manager to react to skier visits and weather
- Ensure all paperwork for assigned lift is completed and turned in daily
- Ensures that lift shacks are clean, organized and stocked with required tools daily
- Make sure that maze areas are set up, groomed, and maintained.
- Maintain an operational log as required by ANSI B77.1-2011
- Maintain knowledge of and abide to company policy for dealing with fraudulent passes
- Monitor lift shack cleanliness and organization, both inside and out
- Monitor snow removal from chair seats, around lift shacks, ramps, and assigned station
- Perform any tasks as assigned by the Lift Operations Manager
- Provide troubleshooting and diagnostic information to Lift Maintenance
- Protect company assets
- Communicate and work closely with Lift Maintenance Department to ensure proactive problem solving
- Monitor and observe proper lift operations throughout the day.
Working Conditions
- Outdoor mountain environment with frequent extreme winter conditions
- Ice- and snow-covered surfaces

Success in this position will be measured by the evaluation of the employee's demonstration of understanding and implementing the core values of Silver Mountain The specifics of these measurements and how they relate to this position will be provided in the employee's training.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Previous experience Lift Operations is helpful
- At least 18 years of age at the time of hire
- Friendly and outgoing personality; enjoy working in a social environment
- Excellent guest service and communication skills
- Ability to stand and work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions for up to 10 hours per shift
- Able to provide effective snow removal and snow work as needed
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Able to work effectively in a team environment
- Available to work weekends and holidays during the ski and snowboard season
- Reliable transportation for winter road conditions
- Intermediate level skier or snowboarder
- Able to start, hookup and operate lift on APU
- Computer skills in Microsoft Office
- Understanding of Interviewing, Hiring, Coaching, Terminating, and Counseling of staff
