Description

The following position is for employment with:

 

Southeastern Minnesota Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

POSITION PURPOSE: Assist doctors during examination and treatment of patients by performing the following duties.

 

 

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

1.Greeting and seating patients.

2.Expose, develop or duplicate dental diagnostic x-rays.

3.Preparing and setting up treatment rooms for surgical procedures.

4.Prepares patient for procedures, sets up instrument trays, prepare any material required or procedure, and assist the doctor during procedures.

5.Cleaning, sterilization and disinfect all instrumentation.

6.Cleaning and disinfect operatory countertops, surgical chairs and over headlight after all surgical procedures.

7.Daily, weekly and monthly cleaning of vacuum system (i.e. suction hoses, suction control & trap)

8.Daily, weekly and monthly cleaning of x-ray developer and autoclaves.

9.Daily cleaning and disinfect air syringe and oxygen/nitrous regulator.

10.Completing all forms necessary for procedures (i.e. consent forms, anesthesia records, biopsy/pathology forms, hospital admission paperwork and H&Ps).

11.Monitoring patients undergoing IV sedation procedures (i.e.vitalsigns,o2 saturation levels).

12.Reviewing pre-operative and post-operative instructions with patients.

13.Recovering patients undergoing IV sedation and escorting patient to vehicle.

14.Assist doctor with writing and calling in prescription medications.

15.Adhere to proper protocol for the dispensing, administration and record keeping for controlled substances.

16.Call lab for specimen/splint pick-up.

17.Tracking TMJ splint impression, fabrication and delivery.

18.Pouring and trimming models.

19.Compile records for surgical coordinator to submit to insurance for pre-authorization (duplicate x-rays, models, scan or copy color photos).

20.Overseeing doctors appointment schedule and ensure appropriate instrumentation and supplies available.

21.Assist doctor in maintaining patient records (i.e. ensuring all documentation & x-rays are properly inserted into patients charts when needed).

22.Assist doctor in management of medical and dental emergencies.

23.Assists front office when presence in back office not required.
