Job Summary:

The Library Services Desk Assistant is responsible for providing front-line services at the Library Services Desk during weekends and potentially evenings.  This is a part-time/casual position working up to 16 hours per week.  

Job Duties:

-Opening and/or closing the library according to the established library hours schedule. 

-Provide assistance to users who need help with reference and informational questions (in-person, email, and chat), and respond to patrons’ needs and questions.  

-Check in and check out of library materials

-Respond to building emergencies, and ensuring appropriate use of library resources and facilities.  

-Oversee undergraduate student workers during evening and weekend shifts. 

-Support and work to advance Bucknell’s sustainability efforts.  

-Support and contribute to the University’s commitment to diversity and inclusion 

-Perform other duties as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree plus two years of customer service related work experience.

Preferred Qualification 

  • Bachelor’s degree

Physical Demands

  • Bends, kneels, stoops, pushes, pulls, reaches above and below shoulders, occasionally lifts and carries objects (books and boxes of books) up to 25 pounds unassisted.

The offer rate will be based on a review of the candidate's credentials compared to the qualifications of the position, internal equity, and our overall compensation philosophy. 

This role is not budgeted for visa sponsorship at this time, all candidates must be authorized to work in the US at the time of submission of the application.
