About the role

Job Summary:

Under the lead work direction of the Coordinator of Collection Development, the Acquisitions and Receiving department is responsible for the ordering and receiving of all library materials. We are also responsible for the receipt of library supplies ordered by the Pfau Library administration and delivery of supplies to appropriate staff, as well as the daily delivery of mail to all library departments and staff. Our department is also involved with the receiving and processing of library gift donations.

Responsibilities:

Gifts:

  • Assist with on-campus donation pick-ups and drop-offs.
  • Process gifts/book donations. (count / sort / box)
  • Assist with bibliographic dup-checking of all book donations in ALMA for Librarian reviews.
  • Search stacks for library materials. 
  • Assist with the processing of donor gift acknowledgment letters.
  • Assist with year-end gift report of Library Material donations.

 Inventory:

  • Perform collection inventory by scanning library materials.
  • Based on inventory reports from ALMA, pull any noted library materials for supervisor review.
  • Search for not-on-shelf / missing titles.
  • Reshelve library materials as needed from inventory reports.

 Library Receiving Department Duties:

  • Receive, sort, deliver, and pick up all library mail.
  • Sign for packages delivered to the library (from campus Receiving, Inter-Library loan courier, etc.)
  • Deliver library supplies along with mail.
  • Other Job-Related Duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.
  • Special Qualification: Admission or registration as a CSU student.
  • As a Bridge Student Assistant, the student need not be registered as a student, but must have been enrolled as a CSU student the previous term and is registered for the following term.

Required Qualifications:

  • Maintain a 2.0 G.P.A. or greater per semester and cumulative.
  • Students must be enrolled in at least halftime units at CSUSB (6 units undergraduate; 3 units graduate)
  • International students must have full-time enrollment at CSUSB. (12 units undergraduate; 6 units graduate)
  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Payroll Requirement: Social Security Card

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and dependability is a must.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as with a diverse group.
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions and communicate effectively.
  • Must be able to develop a comprehensive knowledge of complex standards.
  • Ability to apply independent judgement in order to interpret data.
  • A strong sense of responsibility, initiative, and motivation to learn a complex system of routines, policies and procedures.
  • Methodical and precise; neat handwriting.
  • Self-motivated and sense of responsibility and punctuality.
  • Able to lift heavy boxes and push a full cart of books.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office suite.

 

Compensation and Benefits:

Student Employment Anticipated Hiring Range: $16.90 per hour.

The compensation offered will consider internal equity and experience among other factors.

Position Information:

Work status: Part-Time, Temporary, Seasonal

Academic year available hours: Monday through Friday (8:00 am – 5:00 pm).

Summer available hours: Monday through Thursday (7:00 am - 5:30 pm).
