Lexington Distribution Point Cooler/Receiver

Objective:

Receives pallets of milk and ice cream cases at the distribution point and moves them into designated rows in cooler for temporary storage and loadout.

Description:

The employee locates products from pallets in the sales cooler, removes units or cases (to fill customers order) and places on the route truck for delivery. The task frequently involves bending, stooping, reaching and lifting. The weight of the cases can be as much as 50 lbs, and can be carried or carted (2 wheel cart) up to 30 ft away. Loads ice cream orders for branches onto a pallet, shrink wraps the pallet and loads onto the straight truck for delivery to branches. Maintains cooler inventory, cleanliness and order.

Proper Material Handling Requirements:

• When stacking cases up or down two hands should be used, to balance the weight on the body.
• Slip resistant shoes are required, to reduce the chance of slip and fall accidents when moving product around the cooler.
• When lifting product never twist at the waist (move your feet and rotate entire body instead), since it causes excess stress on the back.
• When pushing or pulling stacks of product, employees should not twist at the waist since this also causes excess stress on the back.
• Always lift with legs, not the back.
• Use a 2-wheel cart whenever possible, instead of carrying cases of product.
