Job Summary
To support our Health Solutions Business Unit, we’re looking to add a Legal Counsel to our Legal team, located in Austin, TX or Texas remote (EST and CT time zones are preferred) and willing to travel to meet in person periodically.
Reporting to the Senior Corporate Counsel, GPSC, the Legal Counsel will be a business partner leading and collaborating on global supplier transactions, supporting global commodity management, global logistics, indirect procurement and supply chain teams, as well as assisting with variety of day-to-day operational issues and their commercial resolution.
What a typical day looks like:
- Review, analyze and assist in drafting of a wide variety of foreign and domestic commercial agreements with Flex's customers covering design and manufacturing services, intellectual property, warranty, indemnity, inventory and financing issues.
- Collaborate with internal business owners and subject matter experts to ensure that customer agreements are aligned with business objectives.
- Work across borders, time zones and cultures with a cross functional group of stakeholders.
- Understand the financial impact of deals you negotiate and track through contract lifecycle.
- Explain complex topics in clear, easy to understand manner with executive-level internal clients.
- Balance governance and being a solutions provider. Leverage your voice and point of view to influence decision-making.
- Use legal IA solutions, software throughout contracting process, including review, drafting, approvals and storage.
- Assist in the implementation and enforcement of contracting policies, directives, and strategic initiatives.
- Develop and provide legal training to internal clients.
- Assist in any contract interpretations/customer disputes.
- Suggest process improvements and simplification initiatives.
The experience we’re looking to add to our team:
- Juris Doctorate from recognized law school in the US
- 8+ years related work experience in commercial contract negotiation, including 5+ years of in-house commercial transactional experience, preferably in a global manufacturing company or in a global logistics player.
- Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business model
- A passion for analyzing and negotiating tough and high dollar value customer contracts.
- Well-organized and detail oriented with an outstanding work ethic; should be able to independently manage and successfully prioritize numerous projects under deadline pressure. The legal team is expected to be available around the clock (if issues arise).
- Strong interpersonal skills; can interact professionally with the internal legal team, internal business clients and Flex’s customers
- Comfortable with taking direction from others on the legal team, and also has strong sense of ownership over projects and proactively looks for ways to improve processes
- Fluent with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), and ability to quickly learn and use internal contract management tools (e.g., Apttus)
