Title: Legal Assistant

Unit: Litigation

Salary Range: Commensurate with experience and qualifications

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Location: Oklahoma City, OK

Schedule: Full-time

The Oklahoma Office of the Attorney General is currently seeking a full-time Legal Assistant for our Litigation Unit.

Essential Functions:

  • Providing legal assistance to multiple attorneys with the preparation of pleadings, briefs, exhibits, correspondence, discovery and court filings.
  • Interacting with various courts, clients, court reporters, lawyers and staff and maintain positive relations with each.
  • Preparing and processing correspondence and memoranda as well a complex legal documents, draft routine cover letters and documents.
  • Proofreading documents and checking for proper formatting, spelling and grammar; complete revisions, prepare redline documents as directed.
  • Performing clerical duties such as prepare outgoing mail; coordinate activities with runners; scan and photocopy materials; and keep up with attorneys’ deadlines and caseloads.  
  • Maintaining electronic and paper files as necessary.    
  • Managing attorney calendars and scheduling meetings, depositions and other tasks related calendar/docket due dates.
  • Providing trial support duties as necessary from exhibit preparation to operation of trial equipment during trial.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • In addition to ECF experience, knowledge of state and federal filing procedures and rules of civil procedure are required; 10th Circuit filing procedures and rules are a plus.
  • Applicant must be detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills; excellent spelling, grammar and proofreading skills; proficiency in Microsoft Word, Adobe Pro, Excell and Outlook.
  • Must have the ability to prepare a variety of complex pleadings and correspondence, including Table of Authorities and Indexing, as well as the ability to prioritize workflow and address new priorities as they arise.
  • Heavy litigation experience is preferred, including but not limited to trial preparation; summarizing depositions; organizing and reviewing discovery; managing each attorney’s caseload.
