JOB FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for supervising, observing, motivating and training of branch tellers/trainees.
- Responsible for coaching and leading staff in meeting or exceeding branch sales goals.
- Regularly conducts meetings and huddles with Teller Staff.
- Must be able to lead by example and have a solid working knowledge of credit union products and services.
- Promotes credit union products and services; consistently cross-sells at every opportunity.
- Assist tellers with member transactions which include but are not limited to deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and loan payments in the most courteous and efficient manner, both in person and on the telephone, on a daily basis.
- Directs processing of night, mail and drop box transactions. Sells cashier checks, corporate checks, travelers’ checks and money orders. Sells and redeems savings bonds. Assists Members with re-pinning of ATM and Visa cards.
- Manages cash requirements for branch and maintains control over vault. Orders cash from Federal Reserve. Counts, verifies and packages currency and coin, balances vault.
- Cash checks, after verifying member identity, signature and availability of funds.
- Balance and secure cash drawer and prepare teller balancing daily.
- May handle mail receipts.
- May be required to service, settle and balance ATMs.
- Handles vault cash, receive cash from and disburse to tellers as required.
- Responsible for and oversees all travelers checks, cashier’s checks and money order transactions.
- Maintains confidentiality of Member and employee information.
- Follows and enforces security program at the branch such as dual control, proper opening, closing and alarm procedures. May be required to open or close branch.
- Assists in the maintenance, upkeep and image of facilities to maintain professional image of VCU.
- Takes initiative to learn new skills or pursue training to enhance skill set.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- The individual should have a strong working knowledge of all policies, products and services of the credit union. A Lead Teller must be organized and technically proficient with transactions and an ability and desire to direct a successful sales team.
- A positive individual that is team-oriented; able to see the steps necessary to get things done; meets deadlines; willing to put in the necessary time to get the job done – but at the same time is a good time manager; and, willing to take responsibility for own actions.
- Effective communication and listening skills; can comfortably deal with people at all levels; a good listener who is empathic with board, staff and member needs; possesses above average oral communication skills. Must be a friendly, pleasant individual.
- Incumbent must be a high school graduate or equivalent and preferably have at least two years of experience as a teller in a financial institution, one of these years being with VCU. A college degree is helpful but not required.
