You have the exceptional opportunity to join the rapidly expanding Clinical team within the technology department. As a member of this team, you will report to the Associate Director and play a crucial role in applying the latest data science applications to business operations. Your responsibilities will include overseeing and guiding both senior and junior developers to ensure compliance with coding standards, best practices, and maintainability. Additionally, you will collaborate with key client stakeholders to identify business challenges and establish solution requirements. Your role will involve delivering business value, presenting findings to executives, and more. The Lead Software Engineer is responsible for coding software applications according to business requirements. Additionally, they can aid in designing and developing IT application architecture solutions that address business problems while adhering to enterprise architecture direction and standards. The Lead Software Engineer tackles problems of varying scope and complexity, ranging from moderate to substantial.

The Lead Software Engineer:

  • Standardizes the quality assurance procedure for software

  • Oversees testing and debugging and develops fixes

  • Researches complaints and makes necessary adjustments and/or recommendations to resolve complex software related issues

  • Advises executives to develop functional strategies (often segment specific) on matters of significance

  • Exercises independent judgment and decision making on complex issues regarding job duties and related tasks, and works under minimal supervision

  • Uses independent judgment requiring analysis of variable factors and determining the best course of action

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 8 or more years of progressive IT experience as a senior developer in large IT projects

  • 2 or more years of experience leading large program

  • Cloud modernization experience

  • Strong experience with .NET, Oracle Database, and SQL Server

  • Experience working with operation partners and creating roadmaps

  • Experience with the technologies in use in the application(s) or infrastructure

  • Experience with unit testing and mocking

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams with high emotional intelligence

  • Experience leading and mentoring senior/junior developers

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines with attention to detail

  • Ability to communicate effectively and deliver presentations to senior leaders

  • Advanced experience leading special projects and producing metrics, measurements, and trend reports

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree

  • Azure / Cloud Certifications

  • Agile Certifications (SAFe preferred)

  • Healthcare industry experience

  • Experience with IBM Operational Decision Manager (ODM)

  • Experience with middle tier integrations (i.e. Kafka, Message Queue)

 

Additional Information

Location/Work Style: Remote in Kentucky or Wisconsin, with the ability to commute to local Humana offices in Green Bay, WI or Louisville, KY as needed
