Job Description Qualifications:

The Boeing Company is looking for Lead Software Engineer capable of contributing to all phases of the software development lifecycle (requirements, architecture, implementation, and verification) to join our Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) Software Engineering organization in Everett, WA.

As a Boeing Software Engineer, you’ll be responsible for working cross functionally to support the development and modernization of various software tools used throughout BCA in support of Engineering, Airplane Production, Delivery, and Customer Support.  The individual will lead the development and documentation of software requirements, architectures, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems.  The individual will also use software development best practices and tools and build, test, and deploy various software components and variety of environments, such as virtual machines, cloud microservices, or lab test hardware.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads activities to develop, document and maintain complex architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems

  • Leads development of code and integration of complex software components into a fully functional software system

  • Develops software verification plans, test procedures and test environments, executing the test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met

  • Provides technical leadership for software projects and leads software supplier management activities

  • Leads development, selection, tailoring and deployment of processes, tools and metrics.

  • Leads software research and development projects

  • Serves as a subject matter expert for software domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations

  • Tracks and evaluates software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards

  • Trains and mentors others

  • Works under consultative direction

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements:

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required.  “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • 10+ years’ experience in software engineering

  • 10+ years’ experience with software development using either Java, C++, or Python

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 10+ years of full software development life cycle, including requirements, architecture, design coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Experience in deploying containerized applications on major cloud systems like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure

  • Experience in professional software development, building large-scale, high performance systems and networking solutions using C++/Java, .NET Framework/.Net Core, Javascript/Typescript, Python, Node.js, and/or Re
