The Data Governance Specialist will work with senior members of product management, engineering, and field engineering to help set and implement the data governance strategy for the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform and evangelize it with customers. You will organize, enable, and lead field engineers in the launching and evaluation of our new governance features for both data and AI.  You will be instrumental in working along with our field account executives and alliance/channel development directors in building technical and business relationships with prospects, customers and market leading partners.

The impact you will have:

  • Own the enablement of the field on how to effectively facilitate a governance conversation
  • Own the presentation and communication for how to best integrate our governance model with customers
  • Serve as the voice of the customer to Product Management about which UC feature requests are most critical
  • Lead the process for handling non-standard data governance conversations across the field
  • Provide thought leadership on data governance, both internally and externally
  • Collaborate across teams when Data Governance overlaps with multiple product areas
  • Collaborate with the ISV team on partnerships with 3rd party vendors
  • Collaborate, document, and communicate the Databricks Governance vision
  • Effectively present our vision to Chief Data Officers and Data Governance Directors at customers
  • Develop programs and materials to enable our pre and post-sales customer-facing teams on Data Governance
  • Evangelize best practices for Data Governance across our customers and to customer-facing teams
  • Assist account teams in overcoming Data Governance objections

What we look for:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain highly technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences of all levels
  • Proficiency in performing highly effective technical presentations and demonstrations in a fast-paced environment
  • 5+ years working with Data Governance within a highly regulated industry (either internally or in a customer-facing capacity)
  • Experience with Risk and Compliance Tools and Platforms
  • Experience applying data governance to Data Warehouses and / or  Data Lakes
  • Experience with applying data security to Data Lakes (Apache Ranger, Kerberos, Immuta, Privicera.)
  • Certification and/or demonstrated competence in one or more of the major cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP) and in a Directory Service (preferably Active Directory)
  • Experience or knowledge of an Entitlement Management / Access Management service; either a commercial vendor or a bespoke system
  • Demonstrated competence in the Databricks platform
  • Certifications such as Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge (CCSK)
  • Experience or knowledge of data governance for machine learning models
  • Experience or knowledge of data compliance certifications (PCI-DSS, HIPAA, HITRUST, FedRamp)
