Position Overview:
A Lead Person within the department is responsible to direct the work of employees within the area and facilitate open communication within the department. This position must be prepared and able to perform all the functions within the area as needed, with a focus on meeting production needs. This work is in an environment where attention to detail, a focus on safety and quality as well as an ability to strive for continuous improvement are crucial.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- *Directs the work of employees within the area, ensuring the correct work instructions are being followed and continuous workflow is maintained
- *Trains new employees on manufacturing processes and computer skills and provides ongoing coaching to all employees within area
- *Promotes job and process improvement as it relates to the department (through 5S as well as other improvement initiatives), including Gemba walks, value stream mapping and kaizen activities as well as audits
- *Interacts with engineering to facilitate rework and implementation of new products
- *Monitors process inspection and testing queues with a focus on level loading
- *Follows safety guidelines (PPE, etc.) and demonstrates safe work practices
- *Maintains a good safety record, has a working knowledge of the behavioral based safety initiatives, and accepts the responsibility to communicate unsafe situations
- *Adheres to the safety and quality standards (goals and metrics) of the organization while working within a team environment
- *Maintains timely and accurate production reports, checklists, and other documentation
- Provides effort in all levels of work tasks, including highly technical job functions as well as cleaning the work area as needed
- Responds to multiple production assignments in a timely and efficient manner
- Overtime may be required, based on business need; regular attendance required
- Other duties as assigned
