Ideal Candidate
We are seeking an experienced Lead Designer to join our design team, focusing on design and photography direction for paid social media campaigns, with additional responsibilities in organic social content. This role is pivotal in bridging the gap between brand and performance marketing, ensuring our static ads drive conversions while staying true to our brand identity. You will lead design reviews, collaborate with creative strategists, and work closely with the photography team to produce compelling visual content that aligns with our marketing objectives. The ideal candidate is a creative who thrives at the intersection of brand integrity and performance-driven design.
Responsibilities
- Run daily design reviews with designers to maintain creative excellence and brand consistency.
- Ensure all visuals and imagery are on-brand while supporting revenue goals.
- Mentor and guide the design team, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Collaborate closely with Creative Strategists in the Performance Marketing team to develop and refine briefs that align product messaging with creative execution.
- Provide hands-on input and creative insights closely tied to the product and target audience.
- Spend time creating comprehensive comps and curating inspiration to guide the creative process.
- Ensure visual content is engaging, on-brand, and optimized for conversion.
- Develop and maintain social media–specific brand guidelines, ensuring consistent adherence and serving as their primary custodian.
- Collaborate with the photography team to create shot lists and art direction decks.
- Attend photoshoots to provide on-site art direction, ensuring the creative vision is executed effectively.
- Bridge the gap between brand and performance marketing to drive conversions while maintaining brand integrity.
- Align creative efforts with overall business objectives and marketing strategies.
- Oversee the creation of visual content tailored for paid social media campaigns.
- Contribute to organic social media content to maintain brand consistency across all channels.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in design, art direction, or a similar creative role, ideally within apparel or e-commerce.
- Proven expertise in apparel-focused design and photo art direction.
- Ability to translate marketing objectives into compelling visual narratives.
- Proficiency in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and other relevant design tools.
- Ideally, candidates are local and can commute to our San Francisco office to attend photoshoots. If not local, a willingness to travel to San Francisco monthly for photoshoots is required.
- Ability to balance brand consistency with the flexibility needed for performance marketing.
- Strong understanding of social media platforms and their advertising formats.

- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strategic thinker with a keen eye for detail.
- This role requires candidates to be based in San Francisco and available to commute to our studio for photoshoots.
