POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are currently seeking a proficient and experienced Field Lead Technician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will not only be technically skilled, but also have the leadership abilities to guide teams and ensure the smooth operation and delivery of high-quality services to our clients.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Technical Responsibilities:
  • Possess and utilize comprehensive Infrastructure Technician skills, including advanced knowledge of structured cabling, datacenter racking and stacking, and power distribution systems.
  • Conduct thorough root cause analysis on technical issues, providing articulate, effective, and innovative solutions to complex technical problems.
  • Prioritize work based on criticality, project timeline, and client needs.
  • Troubleshoot port maps, link/optics, and other technical challenges using a methodical and systematic approach.
  • Oversee and ensure the proper setup and operation of fiber/copper test equipment.

MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the work ticket systems, ensuring timely and effective resolution of issues.
  • Oversee labor and materials, making strategic decisions for optimal efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Monitor the implementation and adherence to quality control measures, ensuring all activities comply with company and industry standards.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for issues and problems, articulating them clearly and providing effective solutions.
  • Prioritize work according to project timelines, resource availability, and organizational goals.
  • Drive process improvements, foster innovation, and adapt to the evolving business needs.
  • Train, guide, and provide logistics support to Lead Technicians, fostering an environment of knowledge sharing and continuous learning.
  • Oversee the training of Field Technicians, ensuring they are up to date with current standards and protocols (BICSI, Corning, etc.)
  • Lead multiple teams with clear direction and strong leadership, ensuring collaboration and high-performance delivery.
  • Handle escalated issues efficiently, drawing on technical expertise and problem-solving abilities.
  • Stand in as a point of contact for the team, mediating concerns and queries between staff and higher-level management.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • A degree in a technology services/technical discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience installing, servicing, and maintaining low voltage cable infrastructure systems such as Category 3, Category 5, Enhanced Category 5, Category 6 and Fiber Optic Structured Cable Distribution Systems.
  • BICSI INST2 Copper, INST2 Fiber, BICSI TECH certifications or company equivalents.
  • Corning CFI, Corning TS-LAN-500 certifications or company equivalents.
  • Possession of training, leadership, or quality control certifications such as BICSI Certified Trainer.
  • Demonstrated experience in operating fiber/copper test equipment and setting up testers.
  • Proficiency in handling MOP/CMOP, work ticket systems, and FIM interface.
  • Expertise in using the Cableguy interface and calculating link budgets.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proven ability to conduct advanced troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrable leadership skills with previous experience managing technical teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong emphasis on customer service.
  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to safely drive company vehicles.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Ability to exert physical force equivalent to lifting up to approximately 50 pounds frequently, and up to approximately 100 pounds occasionally.
  • Excellent vision and depth perception to judge distances and spatial relationships, identify colors, and adjust the focus.
  • Excellent speaking and hearing abilities for effective communication.
  • Regular requirement to sit, use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, stand, and walk.
