About the role

JOB PURPOSE
- This role will be responsible for supporting the company's future and existing operations, meeting project deadlines and proactively manage customer and stakeholder expectations by following the Launch Engineering governance process in the Americas’ region.
- As an Engineering Manager Launches/Automation, you will be responsible for ensuring that technologies and processes are running as planned, having access to all tools, and collaborating with solutions and operations teams. You will also help lead and shape the design of our solutions as someone with a strong technical background in warehouse automation, and you will have a significant impact on our technology and engineering decisions. You will assist us in developing a strong culture, facilitating automation implementation, and working with us to constantly improve the way we work.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- 25% - Partners with Solutions Engineering team and acts as SME to execute a successful, on-time, on-budget launch and lead implementation of new content on the manufacturing floor to achieve the stated build objective (achieve PPAP, complete run at rate, build DV/PV parts, trial run, etc).
- 25% - Serves as Engineering SME in terms of standards design, implementation, adoption, future development, and execution at each site. Develop & write process documents, flowcharts & review all standards to ensure SOPs and standards accurately reflect the unique operations at a given site.
- 20% - Oversees the daily workflow of the department providing hands-on support as required. Mentors team members and provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
- 10% - Drive continuous process improvement, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional operational and development teams to solve problems and implement new solutions
- 10% - Closely collaborate with other teams to coordinate successful and timely launch activities, including owning kickoff meetings, discovery, UAT, and go-live processes
- 5% Support development of risk mitigation actions and prove out plans to support quality launch.
- 5% - Work with the Solutions Engineering team and third-party integrators to design automation into future solutions in response to customer requests for proposals (RFPs) and be able to challenge integrators from the concept to the execution phase.
OTHER
- Responsible for the management and leadership of an engaged team, promoting collaboration and ensuring that each is developed and evaluated against goals and objectives which are aligned, specific, measurable, attainable yet challenging, realistic and time bound.
- Act as an ambassador for DP World at all times when working; promoting and demonstrating positive behaviours in harmony with DP World’s Principles, values and culture; ensuring the highest level of safety is applied in all activities; understanding and following DP World’s Code of Conduct and Ethics policies
- Perform other related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial, Logistics, Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical or Automation)
- Experience in Greenfield/Brownfield facility launches
- Solid understanding of Control system along with IT – OT convergence.
- Experience designing and implementing automation equipment including computer / Machine vision, Robotics, sortation, conveyance, and autonomous robots etc...
- Experience in agile project management
- Experience in implementing WCS / WES.
- Ability to travel 50-75%
Preferred:
- PMP Certification
- Bilingual candidate (Spanish, English)
EXPERIENCE
- 5-7 years’ experience overseeing the launch activities in preparation for production, including workflow, cell layouts and trial runs
OR
- 3 years of experience in the design and installation of automation systems preferably in 3PL OR
- 3 years of experience working in automation integrator company
Definite asset:
- Experience in launching automation technologies in 3PL logistics industry/DC
