Job Description

AECOM Design + Planning group has an immediate opening for a Landscape Designer II with interest in restoration ecology, landscape architecture and environmental design to work in our Sacramento office. Opportunities include the ability to support and partner with other AECOM designers and ecologists on sustainable landscape architecture, habitat restoration, mitigation, environmental design, visual impact assessment and other project assignments.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

• Performing basic architectural/engineering calculations.
• Preparing specifications, reports and related data tables.
• Maintaining liaison with design and drafting groups.
• Preparing, reviewing, and approving drawings as required.
• Under the direction of the Supervising Architect, may perform technical assignments of moderate complexity within approved schedules and budgets.  
• May coordinate technical and administrative activities with employees in other disciplines and other departments participating on an assigned project. 
• May assist in the training and evaluation of assigned architectural and design/drafting personnel.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• BA/BS in Landscape Architecture, Environmental Planning, Ecological Restoration, Plant Ecology or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education with an emphasis on native plant landscaping, sustainable landscape architectural design, and ecological restoration.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Motivated to improve the natural environment and interested in sustainable landscaping and ecological restoration.
• Strong working knowledge of CA native plants, their identification with scientific and common names, ecology, phenology and growing requirements and preferences.
• Familiarity with basic irrigation design concepts, MWELO requirements and WUCOLS.
• Proficient knowledge of AutoCad, and Land F/X to prepare landscape and irrigation progress, permit and construction drawings.
