Your Impact:

 

Amentum provides field, range, testing, chemical, and biological laboratory support to the U.S. Army at the West Desert Test Center (WDTC) located at Dugway Proving Ground (DPG), UT. As a major test site for the U.S. Army Test and Evaluation Command, the WDTC is responsible for the test and evaluation of chemical and biological (CB) defense systems, incendiary and smoke/obscuration munitions systems, and related operational concepts.
In addition to these responsibilities, we also support non-CB testing at the WDTC for the DOD and other Federal agencies, including environmental assessment/impact evaluation and munitions demilitarization.

Our Dugway Operation was established in 2004 with the award of the Field, Range, Chamber, and Laboratory Support Services (FRC&LSS) contract to Amentum. Through the FRC&LSS contract, we have integrated with Mellor Engineering, TOPE, and JRAD with a composite staff size of more than 170 personnel.

Amentum is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Lab Analyst to join our team at the Chemical Test Division (CTD) at Dugway Proving Ground (DPG). This position focuses on operating and maintaining MINICAMs for safety air monitoring, with comprehensive Government-provided certification and training. The successful candidate will contribute to vital safety and analytical operations, working with potentially highly toxic materials and utilizing advanced analytical instrumentation.

Typical Duties:

  • Perform liquid analysis using Gas Chromatography 
    • Experience with Mass Spectrometry strongly desired
    • Experience with Liquid Chromatography / LCMS strongly desired
    • Analyze samples in accordance with the appropriate procedure.
    • Documentation of all analysis in specified formats.
  • Perform SST analysis using GC
  • Compile and review laboratory reports
  • Preparation of chemical solutions
    • Will work in the solutions laboratory half-time and serve as back-up to solutions lead
  • Work on individual projects within the CTD as time / necessity allows
  • Review data packages as part of a quality control review
  • May be required to work long shifts, night shifts and overtime on a rotating basis if needed.
  • Competent with MS Office (Word, Excel).  Agilent Chemstation is a plus.
 

Here's What You'll Need:

 

Education and Experience: 

  • The Laboratory Analyst must have a degree in chemistry, other physical science, or engineering from an accredited university and laboratory experience (or an equivalent education and year of experience with direct government or contractor supporting government laboratory chemistry and analytical operations).  
  • Must be able to work with or around highly toxic material.  
  • Must be experienced with operating analytical instrumentation (primarily Gas/liquid chromatographs and mass spectroscopy).
  • Capable of diagnosing source of instrument problems and can perform routine repairs.  
  • Can correct instrumentation problems identified by QC procedures and/or analysis of data.  
  • Can implement methodology as directed from more experienced staff.  
  • Disciplined in record keeping and familiar with QA/QC procedures.  
  • Must be competent in basic computer software (MS® Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint). <
