Description

A Broadcast Engineer at Griffin Media helps drive the Ideal Team Player culture.

Job Summary: The Broadcast Engineer is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and operation of all broadcast transmitters, equipment and systems within the broadcast media company. This role ensures the continuous, high-quality transmission of broadcast signals and addresses any technical issues that arise. The Broadcast Engineer will work closely with production, operations, and IT teams to support all technical aspects of broadcast production and transmission.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain broadcast equipment, including transmitters, receivers, routers, video servers, audio processors, and other related hardware. Perform regular preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance of all broadcast systems. Troubleshoot and repair equipment malfunctions quickly to minimize downtime.
  • Monitor the quality and reliability of broadcast signals, ensuring compliance with FCC regulations and company standards. Coordinate with the production team to set up and operate equipment for live broadcasts, including remote broadcasts. Manage the technical setup and operation of studio and control room equipment.
  • Provide technical support to production and operations staff, addressing any issues related to audio, video, and signal transmission. Collaborate with IT to ensure the seamless integration of broadcast and IT systems.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment inventory, maintenance schedules, and technical documentation. Ensure all broadcast equipment complies with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead and participate in technical projects, such as system upgrades, new installations, and facility expansions. Work with company departments, vendors and contractors to procure and install new equipment.
  • Monitor tower structures in accordance with FAA regulations and accurately maintain broadcast equipment.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned, including driving an automobile for company business.

Job Schedule: This is a full-time position primarily working 40 hours per week. You may also be called upon at times to fill in other hours and days of the week to help cover vacations, illnesses, breaking news, severe weather, or special projects/events. This position is not eligible to work remotely.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Associate Science Degree in electronics, military training, or trade school certificate preferred. Related experience will be evaluated and may be substituted as years of education.
  • 3+ years of experience in broadcast engineering or a similar role preferred.
  • Ability to climb a 20-foot ladder and perform work at various heights. Ability to practice safe conduct at various heights.
  • Strong knowledge of broadcast systems, including RF technology, digital video and audio standards, and IP-based broadcast solutions as well as general knowledge of AC/DC, analog, and digital electronics
