The Robert Louis Katz & Manne Research Institute Summer Scholars Program engages undergraduates in research pertaining to pediatric health and disease through the ongoing generosity of the Robert Louis Katz Medical Research Foundation and Manne Research Institute.
The program’s mission is to nurture early exposure to top-tier scientific inquiry and amplify interest in scientific careers, with a primary focus on advancing children's health and welfare. The program aims to provide undergraduate students with access to research opportunities, including qualified students who have experienced challenges to obtaining research opportunities.
Summer scholars spend eight weeks working daily with their faculty mentor and research team to learn about conducting scientific research and gain hands-on research experience. They also participate in a weekly seminar led by various participating faculty members and research education who share insights on how to prepare scientific poster presentations and provide guidance about career development
Essential Job Functions:
- Follow research protocols as directed when applicable.
- Collect, record, and organize data.
- Maintain accurate records of data collection.
- Other research project specific duties as assigned.
Knowledge, SKILLS, and Abilities:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Attention to detail and good organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively in face-to-face interactions with research staff, physicians, and administrative staff.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.

$18.00-$27.00 HourlyAt Lurie Children’s, we are committed to competitive and fair compensation aligned with market rates and internal equity, reflecting individual contributions, experience, and expertise. The pay range for this job indicates minimum and maximum targets for the position. Ranges are regularly reviewed to stay aligned with market conditions.
