Job Summary

Avantor is looking for a Junior Procurement Associate to join our team based in Cambridge, on a part-time, temporary basis.

We are offering this role on a 12-month temporary contract, part-time basis - total working hours during a week will be 18.75 spread across Monday - Friday from 8:30am - 12:15pm, however we can be slightly flexible with the start time if you need to do a school drop off or have other commitments.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone, who has experience or knowledge of laboratory and wants to move away from hands-on science tasks, to office/admin based environment. Or maybe you already have interest in procurement and want to build on it in multinational, supporting environment?

To start with, your work location will be Granta Park in Cambridge, at Great Abington and once you become comfortable with working from home, you will be working on a hybrid basis, with occasional office visit (couple of times a month). After couple months of work, your work location will change to The Discovery Centre, as we are currently transition our services to this new facility.

The team  

You will join a team of 5 – 4 Buyers and their Team Leader who are making a phenomenal team by supporting each other and having catch-ups daily. Team is working on a hybrid basis, and you will too, however we need you at the office during your training.

What we’re looking for 

• Experience: We will consider candidates from science and procurement environment – you either have a knowledge/experience in laboratory and decided to move to office-based role, or have interested/knowledge of procurement and would like to expand on it, in an industry leading business.

How you will thrive and create an impact 

• Placing orders on behalf of scientists – purchasing consumables, reagents, chemicals
• Responding to suppliers/end users queries by email
• Making sure COUPA system is updated, as well as documentation and invoice reconciliation
• Occasionally products and suppliers sourcing
