POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Director of Human Resources, the Jr. HR Generalist is a trusted partner providing employee engagement support on administrative and business matters/activities that are confidential in nature or may require discretion in a professional, positive, and efficient manner in the HR Department. The Junior Human Resources Generalist is a confidential position and a member of the Human Resources team in the Finance Department. The Jr. HR Generalist understands and works to fulfill the mission and goals of JFCS in compliance with Agency standards for performance.


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

  • Hourly Rate Range: $38-$43 (depending on experience)
  • Employment Type: full-time, non-exempt position with benefits
  • Employer 403(b) retirement match plus additional employer contribution (subject to eligibility)

  • 16 holidays (10 federal and up to 6 Jewish holidays), annually

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains data integrity by ensuring employee data is maintained in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws and ordinances during the employee lifecycle
  • Creates/prepares reports and analysis using the HRIS, and other software, as required. Compiles statistical data and assist with special projects
  • Maintains records and tracking reoccurring license and training certifications, as well as weekly, monthly and quarterly reports such as Timesheet reports, monthly HR Reports, compliance reports, and health and physical reports.
  • Conducts audits of various payroll, benefits, HR documents and HR Files as instructed by the HR Director
  • Ensures that all pre-hire requirements are met prior to the employee’s start date
  • Responsible for timely and accurate data entry of contract renewals in the agency HRIS system
  • Assists employees with the completion of HR documents including, new hire documents, benefits enrollment forms and other documents required by the HR Department
  • Facilitates new employee orientations and SIP Orientation
  • Responsible for record keeping, benefits enrollment, benefits terminations and waivers for all staff
  • Assists in tracking employee eligibility, filing, and correspondence related to Human Resources and benefits administration.
  • Assists the HR Generalist with the reconciliation of insurance premiums paid to the employees’ data in HRIS
  • Assists the HR Generalist in distributing Cobra Notifications, 403(b) annual statements, and other filings and notifications as required by ERISA and the Department of Labor
  • Ensures that all WC Documents are current and up to date
  • Performs clerical duties related to filing workers comp claims, including processing and submitting all required forms to worker’s comp provider
  • Assists the Director of Operations in conducting initial ergonomics review for all new hires and current staff
  • Provides high-quality training and oversight for the interns and positively influences intern summer experience

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of two years of experience in a human resources capacity
  • Associate of Arts degree from an accredited school required
  • Demonstrated skills in use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, accounting systems and other software
  • Foundational knowledge of HR policies and practices, compliance requirements, and risk implications of HR including employee relations, performance management, discrimination, harassment, recruiting and hiring, compensation and benefits, leaves and disability management, payroll and timekeeping records management, HCM and related systems
