SUMMARY (Basic Purpose of the Job)

Functions as a member of the Technical Services Team responsible for administration, maintenance and support of computer systems or network to ensure optimal performance of IT systems. Assist Technical Services Management in developing logical, detail-oriented project plans and estimates, including implementation timeframes, resource estimates, cost estimates and cost/benefit analyses for IT systems. Delivers and supports a technical solution VDI technologies, desktop administration, IT management tools along with the day-to-day activities required to administer these systems and support end-users.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:

Associate's degree or technical degree or equivalency.

Experience:

Two years experience with latest version of windows applications, servers, operating systems, TCP/IP, IPX protocols, hard drive configurations, mirroring, RAID, software distribution tools, and directory services. Previous experience with workstation, server, and operating system technologies,

Other Credentials:

Knowledge and Skills:

Strong oral and written communication skills, project implementation, troubleshooting skills. Strong teamwork abilities.

Special Training:

Microsoft network technologies. Previous desktop, server hardware, and peripherals, multiple network protocols, network client software, e-mail, office suite, server management, tape back-up systems experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. Participates in technical research to enable continuing innovation and support within the infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve PC, Thin/Zero-client, Virtual Desktop and Mac hardware and software problems, including OS, network connectivity, file sharing, printing, and basic application functions
  • Creates and deploys application packages to VDI users. Performs VDI image created and distribution. Performs all system updates and patches. Troubleshoots complex issues and provides incident resolution for all related incidents requiring escalated support or subject matter enterprise
  • Proficient in desktop management and security tools such as LANDesk for patch and Asset Management and security platforms including AV and end-point encryption.
  • Develops and maintains proficient use of project management software tools (e.g. Microsoft Project, tracking of hardware software). Understands and adheres to project implementation and problem resolution priorities set by Networks and IS management. Assists in the identification, evaluation and testing of potential new software, hardware, tools and technologies. Makes recommendations for purchase. Ensures new hardware and software are adequate for projected growth. Participates as an active, contributing member of project teams. Ensures tasks and projects are completed in a successful and timely manner.
  • Exhibits technical knowledge and experience with multiple desktop, server software and tools as evidenced by capabilities with Active Directory, VMware, Citrix, MS Exchange, MSO Suite, group policy and file/print/application services.
  • Provides assistance with the troubleshooting of network and office administration technologies and maintaining hardware infrastructure including datacenter management.
  • Performs preventative maintenance in accordance with department policies. Improves existing programs by reviewing objectives and specifications; evaluating proposed changes; recommending changes; making modifications and documenting.
