JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

If you’re interested in being a part of an Information Technology Team that works hard to find solutions and provide the best user experience for our students, faculty, and staff, all while still having fun with co-workers, then consider working for Penn State’s Outreach and Online Education Information Technology (OOE IT). We investigate, evaluate, and collaborate to find the best technical tools and setup for our future, and the next generation of online learners. Located in Central Pennsylvania, which boasts abundant outdoor life, beauty, and the cultural advantages of a large university community, we have a lot to offer to help keep your work-life balance, in balance.

This position specializes in providing first and second-tier technical support for end users and endpoint devices within Outreach and Online Education. This includes providing support and service to a variety of staff and positions across the division and to endpoint technology through the entire life cycle of devices, from procurement, setup and delivery, active use, storage, and finally salvage. Experience with both Windows and Mac operating systems is required. While on-the-job training is provided, having prior familiarity with endpoint management tools such as BigFix, JAMF, KACE, Bomgar, ServiceNow, and WPSU Production machines, as well as general service desk operations, is beneficial. However, a demonstrated ability to learn IT system mechanics and apply that knowledge to achieve comprehensive solutions is also highly valued. This is a hybrid position with 2 remote days and 3 in-person days per week.

  • OOE IT values strong communicators, collaborators, and client-focused individuals. We also look for individuals with the ability to persevere, find the best solution, and prove adaptable and accountable. This is an intermediate-level position, where qualified candidates will typically be able to draw from previous experience to demonstrate competency in the required skills. As a new team member, OOE IT will provide an appropriate onboarding period, along with check-ins with peers and supervisors to address any needs or concerns, and an open door to the Executive Director, ensuring your success.
